Oils are a fantastic medium for portrait painting because of the rich flesh colours that can be created. And now commissioning oil portraits of family members has never been easier. All you need to do is email us a photograph or two for us to work from and we'll do the rest.  As with all our paintings, your portrait will be custom-made to your requirements. Should you wish you can choose your own exact dimensions, artistic style and of course choose to add or omit objects into the painting. 

     

What happens next

All Period Art portrait artists' work from photographs that are either emailed or sent in to us via post. The first step therefore, is to select a photograph that you feel really captures your family or loved ones. We are happy to advise you on size, although, if you already have particular dimensions in mind, just let us know and we'll make sure your portrait is painted to your specifications. 

Next, think about style, how would you like your portrait to be painted, in an Impressionist style, Realist style?  If you're not sure, once we see the photographs we'll be able to advise you on what would look best.

Finally, you might want to change the background of your portrait and the clothes you're in to create a different style and feel, which can really look amazing.
